Singapore suspends imports of pork and its products from areas affected by the African swine fever epidemic in Germany

According to Singapore Food Agency, Germany has reported the first detection of African Swine Fever (ASF) in one dead wild boar in the municipality of Schenkendöbern, Spree-Neiße, Brandenburg, Germany.

In view of the outbreak, the National Parks Board/Animal & Veterinary Service (NParks/AVS) has imposed a suspension on the import of pork and pork products from Germany with effect from 10 September 2020. Processed pork products which comply with the OIE guidelines for inactivation of ASF virus will not be subjected to the restriction.

To facilitate the clearance of permits for processed pork products, we would require the following attestations to be included in the veterinary health certificate accompanying the import of pork products:

(a) The meat has been subject to heat treatment for at least 30 minutes at a minimum temperature of 70°C throughout the meat; or

(b) The meat has been subject to any equivalent heat treatment which has been
demonstrated to inactivate ASFV in meat; or

(c) The meat has been cured with salt and dried for a minimum of 6 month.
